Summary:
The Woodland Renaissance Partnership (The Partnership) was set up in 2004 to deliver strategic investment into the forestry and timber industries using Rural Renaissance funding. It is a partnership of private and public enterprises, working to regenerate woodland and forestry in the South West to benefit the economy, society and the environment. With an initial fund of £1m from SWRDA, Woodland Renaissance has invested a total of £2.8m in the long-term growth of the forestry sector.
Detail:
The Woodland Renaissance is currently involved with the Sustainable Woodland South West project. This aims to provide technical advice and knowledge transfer to the forestry industry, to improve supply chain infrastructure and business investment opportunities. This work involves supporting forestry businesses in Cornwall to access RDPE funds under the Farming and Forestry Improvement Scheme (FFIS), launched in November 2011. Forestry businesses applying for grants under the FFIS scheme may request up to £25,000. Eligible projects must be aiming to promote sustainabel woodland management by processing timber more efficiently.
