The Silvanus Trust is a charity and Company Limited by Guarantee established in 1986 in response to the Dartington Action Research Trust and Countryside Commission's worries about the neglect of broadleaved woodlands in the south west of England. The Trust's aims are to: work in partnership with those concerned with woodland influence policy concerning sustainable and viable woodlands provide information, support, advice, education and training for those with an interest in woodland facilitate a sustainable woodland economy research and promote best practice inspire and involve communities to manage and value trees and woodland value, celebrate and enjoy trees and wood. To achieve these aims the Trust develops and delivers a range of economic (business support), consultancy and community projects at both local and strategic regional levels.
